If you have itching, burning, redness and irritation in the
vaginal area, chances are you have yeast infection.

Yeast infection is nasty and annoying. The first thing that
you should do is to find out if you really have the infection
by going to the doctor and taking a yeast infection test. Your
doctor will discuss your symptoms with you and examine you to
make sure that it’s what you have.

Since yeast infection is inconvenient, it is best to get it
treated right away. Treatment involves medicines that you put
on the affected area. Some are in pill form that you can take
orally. But before you get treated, you have to go through the
steps and the first step is the yeast infection test.

The yeast infection test starts when the doctor asks you a
few questions regarding your symptoms, how long have you been
feeling it and what medications have you taken to cure it.
Honesty is crucial so you will get the right treatment. Then
the doctor will either do a vaginal culture or a blood test.
Expect a pelvic examination to check on whether you have skin
inflammation. If the following tests mentioned confirm that you
have it, then the right treatment method will be discussed with
you.

Acquiring a yeast infection doesn’t mean you are a dirty
person. It can definitely make a person feel unclean to have
the infection, which can occur in the mouth, breasts, fatty
folds, or in the lower regions of the body, as well as on the
skin.

Yeast is present in everyone and can be helpful cells. It’s
only when they grow uncontrollably that they become unwelcome
inhabitants of our bodies. If the normal bacteria helps control
the yeast, all functions properly and it isn’t even noticeable.
Yeast that isn’t controlled will quickly reproduce and cause
infection.

Anything that damages the can create an environment for
yeast to flourish. Antibiotics, tight clothing, wet clothing,
diabetes, and obesity are all contributors to yeast
infection.

Some women are more prone than others to vaginal yeast
infection. It seems women are more apt to get them than men.
Men just don’t make them known as readily as women. Not knowing
what a yeast infection is can be scary for someone who has
never had one. It may be most embarrassing to accept the first
time. Some women feel embarrassed every time one occurs, and it
is possible to get more than one.

There’s nothing to be ashamed of when one gets a yeast
infection, be it men or women who suffers. Education can help
calm the nerves, as can knowing you aren’t the only person who
has ever suffered the indignity. The problem lies in
misdiagnosing a yeast infection when there is a bigger problem
that needs to be addressed.

Trichomonas, gardnerella, Chlamydia, and gonorrhea can mimic
the symptoms of a yeast infection. A pap smear at the doctor’s
office can rule out a mistake. If your doctor isn’t sure, he
would most likely recommend a culture be taken for further
examination. If your infection is caused by yeast that is
resistant to some anti-fungal medications, you’ll need a
doctor’s care as well to point you in the right direction for
the most effective treatment.

Trying to prevent infections is always recommended no matter
what type of infection. Prevention is better than treatment
because it can help you avoid becoming resistant to treatments.
Knowing the steps you can take to lessen your chances of
acquiring a return infection is always recommended. If you can
take control of your wellness, you will be a stronger person
mentally as well as physically.

Precautions are not always going to prevent infections, of
course. There may be things that are beyond your control. This
does not mean you are a failure or should be blamed. Sometimes
it is easy to feel like you have done something wrong or that
you may not have done enough. But a yeast infection is
something that happens to someone every day. It may not be the
subject of general conversation, but you can rest assured you
are not the only one who has had to endure one, and you won’t
be the last!

Learning is power. Take control of your body by learning
what is normal for you. Some people have yeast infections more
often than others. Some seem to “outgrow” the tendency to get
them. Whatever the case, the more you learn about the infection
and about your own body, the better off you’ll be!

New parents have enough to worry about when their infant is
healthy and happy. When they suspect their child is having a
health problem their world falls apart.

One health problem that can affect a newborn is thrush.

The good news is that thrush is, for the most part, a minor
illness that is easily treated. It is an oral yeast infection.
Diapers can also cause an infant to develop a yeast
infection.

is something that a child might develop naturally, the
fungus that causes thrush is a fungus that is already in the
body but the mouth is a warm, dark, moist area where the fungus
thrives and reproduces. Sometimes, if the mother had a vaginal
yeast infection when she went into labor, the child might have
contracted the condition when they passed through the birth
canal.

Parents who routinely examine their child’s mouth will
quickly see the signs of thrush. They will notice that their
child has developed some oral lesions or that their is a white
mucus covering the mouths surface, when this phlegm is wiped
away the tissue underneath might look red, irritated, and sore.
If the parent notices symptoms of thrush developing in their
child’s mouth they should call their pediatrician and arrange
an appointment as quickly as possible. Although yeast
infections are usually easily treated, because of the infants
underdeveloped immune system, the yeast infection can turn into
a more serious condition called Candidiasis.

When the is examining your child’s yeast infection they’ll
often ask about the mother’s health. If they suspect that the
child developed a yeast infection from the mother they’ll
recommend treatments for both child and mother. Some
physician’s will recommend a prescription treatment while
others will recommend an over the counter treatment.

One of the most important things to do when an infant
develops a yeast infection is to take precautions to make sure
the infection doesn’t spread. Disinfect and sterilize the
child’s pacifiers. If you bottle feed the child, throw away all
the old nipples and replace them with new ones. If the baby is
breast fed the mother needs to use a topical ointment on her
nipples. All family members should wash their hands several
times a day with an anti-bacterial soap. Stop using cloth
towels to dry your hands, use paper towels that can be thrown
away instead. Continue these precautions for at least two
weeks.

Parents should know that a yeast infection can sometimes
look like a diaper rash. If you have been using a cream to
treat diaper rash and haven’t noticed any change with
forty-eight hours, you could be dealing with a yeast infection.
Set up an appointment with your child’s pediatrician. Giving
your babies bottom a chance to air dry before replacing their
diaper will help lower the chances of them developing a yeast
infection. Another step parents can take to prevent a yeast
infection from starting is to replace the diaper as soon as it
is soiled.

Babies who are breast fed and babies that are already on
antibiotics seem to be particularly susceptible to yeast

A women who is plagued with recurring vaginal yeast
infections might not give them a second thought when they
happen. However if that same woman gets a vaginal yeast
infection when she is pregnant she’ll probably react
differently.

And who can blame her, a vaginal infection is dangerously
close to her uterus.

For some reason yeast infections occur with greater
frequency when a woman is pregnant then when she isn’t carrying
a child. The increased frequency of yeast infections during
pregnancy could be due to additional stress, but it is more
then likely due to the bodies hormonal changes. When a woman is
pregnant the amount of estrogen in her body. The increase in
estrogen increases the amount of glycogen that the vagina
produces. The extra glycogen creates an environment that
encourages the growth of yeast.

Even though you might be an old hand at using
over-the-counter treatments to cure your yeast infections if
you are pregnant visit your doctor to make sure that the yeast
infection isn’t a sign of a complication. You’ll also want to
check and make sure that the over-the-counter treatment you use
will not harm your child. Don’t expect your doctor to give you
a prescription for your yeast infection, they will most likely
recommend an anti-fungal cream that can be purchased to
over-the-counter. If the cream doesn’t seem to work or if it is
causing additional discomfort, talk to your physician.
Pregnancy can cause your body to react differently to creams
that you frequently use.

The good news is that yeast infections seldom affect the
unborn child. If you have a yeast infection when you go into
labor there is a chance that the child will contract an oral
yeast infection when it passes through the birth canal but this
is easily treated.

When you’re pregnant there are several things that you can
do to help prevent a yeast infection. Purchase toilet paper
that doesn’t have any patterns printed on it. Wear long skirts,
loose jeans, and comfortable sweatpants. Turn away from Lycra
and spandex panties in favor of plain white cotton underwear.
Don’t wear pantyhose. Avoiding perfumed powders and lubricants
will lower your chances of a vaginal yeast infection. Resist
taking long bubble baths. If you go swimming take a shower, dry
off, and change out of your wet bathing suit. Use water based
lubricants instead of lubricants that are made out of petroleum
jelly. Try to sleep sans underwear. Some women feel that eating
one cup of yogurt that contains lactobacillus acidophilus
lowers the chances of developing a yeast infection, even if the
yogurt doesn’t improve your vaginal health it is an excellent
source of the calcium and protein your body craves.

If you already have a vaginal yeast infection applying an
icepack to the infected area will help alleviate some of the
discomfort. Another way to increase comfort is soaking in a
cool baking soda bath.

Skin yeast infections can occur under the arms, along the
inner thigh, under the breasts, under excess fatty folds, in
the crease of the buttocks, under finger nails, under toe
nails, and in the webs of fingers and toes.

The rash looks similar to a diaper rash on a baby. Soft
white patches in the mouth can also signal yeast
infections.

Humidity, tight clothing, poor hygiene, topical steroids,
and other skin diseases can contribute to skin yeast
infections. Using antifungal creams of the “azole” family of
medicines is the usual treatment for skin yeast infections. An
antifungal cream can be safely mixed with a hydrocortisone
cream to combat the itching. Washing and drying daily and using
powder to absorb moisture, plus wearing cotton clothing to
cover the areas more likely to obtain the yeast infection will
help recovery and lessen the chance for a return of
the infection.

The red, itchy, scaly rash will develop in warm, moist
areas.

Although there is no rule that intercourse should not be
allowed during treatment, it would usually be uncomfortable
depending on the location of the infection and is preferably
delayed so that the medication can achieve the full effects
without interference.

Yeast infections don’t choose certain countries, certain
sexes, or certain ethnicities. People of all sexes, ages, race,
and from all over the world can contract a yeast infection. It
is not considered a sexually transmitted disease. However,
there have been instances where a person has passed it on to
another person through direct contact. There have also been
exceptions when men have developed topical itching and rash
following intercourse with an infected partner.

The yeast infection has an embarrassing effect on our skin
and is not a pretty sight, but certainly nothing one should be
ashamed of. It’s no worse than having ringworm, another type of
skin fungal infection. You don’t get the yeast infection just
by touching the area. If you have a cut and a low immune
system, you are more at risk for developing an infection of any
kind through direct contact. Because yeast must multiply to
cause an infection, it is not usual for a skin yeast infection
to be passed along to someone else. Someone else’s yeast mixing
with your own yeast would not normally be a reason for
contracting the infection.

Yeast is generally nothing to be afraid of. It isn’t a bad
fungus and only causes problems when it becomes out of control.
The yeast on the skin can be cleared up with the proper
medications, taking care to keep the skin clean and dry, and
getting to the root of the problem that caused the infection.
There may be dietary reasons that caused you to be allergic to
the yeast.

If you find that your skin yeast infections are coming back
frequently, you might try changing your diet to see if certain
foods are causing the problems. Keeping a food diary,
experimenting one type of food at a time and giving time for a
reaction to occur should pinpoint the problem if it is caused
by food allergy. The first foods to remove would be any foods
containing yeast products.

Vaginal yeast infections are dreaded by most any female who
has had one. Some women have very light symptoms and only a few
occurrences. Some are unfortunately plagued by recurring
infections that are more serious.

Stress can cause your body’s defenses to lower, which only
encourages yeast to grow quickly out of control as the good
bacteria are overcome. Unable to maintain control, they lose
their ability of keeping the yeast count low.

Poor diet, lack of proper rest, and antibiotics are
contributors to yeast infection. Diabetes and HIV also increase
the risk of yeast overgrowth.

Treatment of yeast infections has been known to take up to
two weeks, but don’t lose heart if you are the one suffering.
Modern medicine and catching the infection in the early stages
will increase your chances of getting it under control
quickly.

Vaginal suppositories and creams are commonly used to treat
most vaginal yeast infections. There are single doses available
that are not recommended for use during pregnancy because of
the possible danger to the fetus. Creams that can be inserted
by tubes at bedtime can take as little as three days to use. A
cream can be bought also to spread on the itching, inflamed
portions of the affected area. This helps treat both the inner
and the outer discomfort.

You must be well acquainted with the symptoms and know you
aren’t at risk of acquiring more serious infections that can
share the same symptoms. For someone who has never had a yeast
infection, it is best to see a doctor for the first exam and
treatment options. Someone with diabetes, other serious
illnesses such as HIV, or someone who is pregnant should see a
doctor rather than self-treat as well.

Medications known to treat yeast infections are Femstat,
Clotrimazole, Monistat, Nystatin, GyneCure, Terazole, and the
single dose Diflucan Oral. The Diflucan Oral is the most
effective single dose oral treatment. At 100 mg, the
fluconazole tablet may be preferable for those who have
autoimmune deficiency diseases because of the possibility of
others becoming immune to the active ingredient.

There are herbal remedies, of course, which are natural
remedies for those who prefer that route. However, it does seem
that herbal remedies can take longer to eradicate the problems.
This is not a concern for those who prefer the more natural
route, of course, but for someone seeking a quicker relief the
over-the-counter or prescription medications may be the better
choice. It is really a matter of personal preference. Herbs do
have side effects and can interact negatively with some
medications and other herbs, so it is a must that you learn
about the possible drawbacks before deciding upon
treatment.

Many times a person will assume that herbs are safer because
they are more natural, but this isn’t always the case. Anything
that can alter a body’s chemical reactions can pose a danger,
even if the goal is to better one’s health. Should you decide
to try herbal remedies and have to seek a doctor’s care after
all, please inform the doctor of the exact herbs you have been
trying so he can make a wise decision towards your
treatment.

The Relationship
Between Yeast Infection And Diabetes

If you are a diabetic the chances of you developing a yeast
infection improve dramatically. There is something about the
inconsistencies in your blood sugar levels that makes you more
prone to the uncomfortable vaginal infection.

Because the diabetes also impedes your bodies natural
ability to heal, recovering from a yeast infection may take
longer then it will for someone who does not have diabetes.

Experts claim that the key to preventing reoccurring vaginal
yeast infections is properly manageing your blood sugar levels,
good genital hygiene, and wearing clothing that won’t trigger a
yeast infection. Some women have had success treating their
vaginal yeast infection by swabbing their vagina with tea tree
oil. Swapping your sexy Lycra underwear for a pair of plain
white cotton undies will go along way in preventing future
yeast infections. Resist the urge to sit around in your wet
bathing suit when you finish swimming, take a shower, dry off,
and change into clean clothes. Making sure that your underwear
is clean and completely dry when you put it on will help
prevent future yeast infection. Changing your underwear in the
middle of the day will also go along way in prevent vaginal
yeast infections. Avoid using toilet paper and tampons that are
perfumed or that have patterns and designs printed on them.

Managing your blood sugar levels requires that you think
very carefully about what you are eating and when. Selecting
the right types of food will go along ways to maintaining a
balanced blood sugar level and will also help prevent a future
yeast infection. One of the things you can do to help control
your blood surger is to work with your doctor and establish a
meal plan that will keep your insulin at a safe and consistent
range. Avoid eating any foods that are heavy in saturated fats.
Achieving your optimal weight will also make managing your
blood sugar levels an easier task, reducing your weight can be
done by reducing your calorie intake.

Because there are different stages of diabetes, each
individual needs to know what type of diabetes they have before
they can put together a dietary plan. People who have type one
diabetes need to make sure they balance the amount of
carbohydrates they consume with the amount of insulin they are
on, and they’re daily physical activity. If you have type two
diabetes you need to make sure you eat a diet that is low on
calories so that you can start reducing your overall weight.
People who have type two diabetes need to decrease the amount
of carbohydrates they eat and eat foods such as almonds, peanut
butter, and walnuts.

If you go to a doctor after developing a yeast infection
make sure you discuss how any anti-fungal treatments you take
will affect your diabetes.

If you have diabetes you should be aware that you are at a
greater risk for an oral yeast infection. Lowering the level of
your blood sugar will also help prevent eye disease, heart
disease, gum disease, and some nerve damage.

The cause of yeast overgrowth in dogs is slightly different
from that of humans only in the sense that different causes are
under focus.

When a human has yeast infection, the concentration seems to
lie on moisture and a low immune system response. Too much
moisture in an warm area for an extended length of time on a
regular basis contributes to abnormal yeast growth. Inability
for the body to keep the growth under control contributes to
the infection.

With an animal, such as a dog, many reasons are given as to
why the animal could have a yeast overgrowth that causes
infection. Although, it is possible that humans and dogs do
share some of the same reasons for yeast infection.

One example is the overuse of antibiotics. Both humans and
dogs have become subject to that because of the ease of
prescribing antibiotics and their popularity for helping
improve so many illnesses. The double-edged sword lies in the
fact that antibiotics can both help us, yet cause a yeast
infection in the process of improving other problems.

Stress is another factor humans and animals share. Animals
can’t discuss their stress, so it can easily be overlooked that
they have a problem with it. Stress can create yeast imbalance
in both humans and animals. Comprised immune systems, an
imbalanced diet, and illness are all factors both humans and
animals share when being subjected to yeast infections.

So, what is the difference in how humans and animals get
yeast infections? Boarding, flea preparations, heartworm
medications, toxic gut syndrome, vaccinations, no digestive
enzymes and poor quality minerals are some of the ways animals
and humans differ in how they get yeast infections.

If your pet isn’t responding well to treatments for other
diagnoses, maybe you should ask your vet if yeast could be the
problem. The solution could be a simple diet change to remove
the yeast and poor quality food your animal has received. There
are animals that simply don’t fare well on the lowest cost food
on the market. Animals can get food allergies just like humans
can.

Signs that your pet may have a yeast infection include:

Gas, bloating, lethargy, seizures, reoccurring secondary
bacterial infections, redness under the pits of their legs, in
skin folds, on inner thigh areas, between toes, excessive
licking of paws or private areas, and scratching excessively or
rubbing the nose.

You can order yeast removal kits, but be aware that
detoxifying a pet can take two to six months. Your beloved pet
deserves the best care, and it’s up to you to provide it.
Animals suffer in silence many times, enduring uncomfortable
situations simply because they can’t tell us there is a
problem. A silent pet doesn’t mean a pet is healthy. Be aware
of what is normal for your animal.

Medicated shampoo may be another treatment option to help
your pet through their yeast problem. Bathing more often than
normal may be necessary to help relieve the symptoms. Just make
sure you dry the affected areas as thoroughly as possible. It
may also be necessary to place a collar on the pet to keep them
from licking their wounds during recovery.
